Western Illinois University Trombone & Euphonium Studio

The WIU Brass Faculty
Welcome to the Trombone & Euphonium Studio page. If you are considering a career in music performance, music education, music business, or music therapy, the WIU School of Music can give you the training that will help you achieve your goals. Successful graduates of our program--performers, educators, arts administrators, music therapists, composers, and recording engineers--are working all over the world. We believe that the arts are for everyone, so even if you don't wish to be a music major, you will still find many opportunities to participate in the musical life of the university, either in one of our nationally recognized ensembles, or by studying privately with a faculty member. Music major or non-major, you should find the information you need here.

University Ensembles
The Western Trombone Quartet
The members of the WTQ are the top trombone students in the studio each semester. Sometimes I play in the group, sometimes it's made up completely of students from the studio. We present recitals and go on the occasional short school performance tour. This is an exciting and polished group of instrumentalists! Here are some audio samples of the WTQ:
Mendelssohn: Song Without Words
Gliere: Russian Sailor's Dance
Arr. Elkjer: It's Only a Paper Moon
WIU is located in Macomb, Illinois, a relatively quiet college town in west-central Illinois. To visit the campus, you can travel by Amtrak from Chicago, or fly into one of the regional airports in Peoria, IL, or the Quad Cities, then drive the rest of the way. Below is a slideshow of current and former students in the studio, and of locations on our campus.
